From Matthew 5:14-16 (also found in Mark 4:21-22,
and Luke 8:16, 17.)
Jesus said, "You are the light of the world. Men
don't light a candle and put it under a container to put it out!
You put a lit candle on a candlestick! Then it can light up the
whole house, and give light to all who are in it. Let your light
shine for all to see, by doing good works. That will give glory
to God in Heaven."

Ms. Dee brought candles and asked the kids, as she
lit one.
Why do we light a candle?
In the Bible, a bushel was used to put candles out.
Ms Dee used a big pan, and put it over the candle. She asked, "Do
I light a candle just so I can put a pan over it?" "NO!"
Well, why do we light candles? We light candles
so that we can see, and so can others.
The way we can light a candle in the dark is to
do good things. When people see us do good, and ask about it, we
need to take that chance to tell them about Jesus! That way He gets
the glory for the good!

The Memory Verse for the Week is :
Let your light so shine before men that they may
see your good works, and glorify your Father, which is in Heaven.
Matthew 5:16
We learned this by having each word on a page with
light pictures, taped on the wall. The memory verse burglar came
and took a page as we read it! Ms. Dee could never catch him, but
she was thinking about calling the Police!

Anyway, it did help us learn the memory verse.
We also sang it, with the help of the tune that the Doughnut Man
sings, and sang "This Little Light of Mine".
