1. Recognize you are a sinner
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."

2. Know that there is a price for sin.
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life with Jesus Christ our Lord.

3. Realize that Jesus paid the price for your sins.
Romans 5:8 "But God commendet h His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

4. Ask Jesus to forgive your sins, and accept Jesus into your heart as the boss of your life.

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9
